    Default Sound of waves

    Hi!

I´m not sure if I´m totally out of line but I like to relax with sounds in the background from the computer.

I often listen to the sound of waves ( Calming Waves ) or at "white noise" ( SimplyNoise - The Best Free White Noise Generator on the Internet. ).

However, is this a good way to meditate or is it in any way blocking the strength of the meditation?

    All the best,

    Jacob

Using external sounds is helpful in calming the mind I use a small fan or healing music when felling distracted, though today I am going camping and will enjoy natrual sounds of nature.

Though to be able to meditate with no sound at all is a true master especially in the cureent chaos of the modern would. Any way it works for you is great.

I use a room fan set on high as white noise to meditate or just to have a more peaceful environment. Some use table fountains, some use other forms of white noise. Whatever works I think is best for you. i am not sure there is any one right or wrong answer for this question.

One of the sounds I used when starting out is actual waves from the ocean. A public broadcast radio station in my city would, from midnight to about 5 AM broadcast nothing but ocean waves. I actually taped as much as I could so that on nights I had trouble sleeping I could play it and listen to the waves crash on the rocks and the seagulls as well. The problem was that every 1/2 hour or 45 minutes a voice would come through the waves to announce briefly the time and of course what station we were listening too. Proved to be distracting if you were deep in meditation when it happens. You get a start.
