LOL Very funny!
Dom Joly is a British comedian - for example:
However, that doesn't detract from the underlying seriousness of his "meditation technique". Distractions are just another aspect of our experience, like anything else - thoughts, feelings, sensations. Awareness can either get "sucked in" - get submerged within the experience - or remain separate, watching the experience come and go. Some distractions - like Dom Joly's screaming - are a lot more distracting, but nonetheless, they come and go just like any other experience.
The trick is to rest in allowing them to come and go, and to remain in the simple watching of both the particular distraction as well as our reactions to the distraction (discomfort, fear, annoyance, whatever). Indeed, watching our reactions is the most important part of this process, as it allows us to eventually moderate those reactions, and eventually not get distracted.
The particular distraction itself is nothing compared to our reactions - because if we don't react, then we don't get distracted. Our reactions are, in fact, the actual distraction!
Great topic!
