    Default Perhaps Getting Somewhere? Unsure

    So, last night I had gone to bed straight after a shower feeling refreshed so I decided it was a prime time to ponder and attempt meditation. First I concentrated on taking slow, deep breaths using my belly and eventually slowed them to a stage where I'd feel comfortable with if I fell into meditation. I thought of Zen, from what I have learnt Zen is simply to be still, relax and feel everything around you with your senses. I couldn't fathom where to start, sight has been too vague for me and I often have blocked sinus'. This left Taste, Hearing and Touch. I'm used to my ears picking up on the slightest of things so I thought I might implement something I seldom focus on, touch. I calmly concentrated and felt I was understanding my Touch sense more than I had used to then I started to fall asleep, alert to the situation I told myself not to, but the fact that I could have been able to meant I was going in the right direction. Preventing my sleep but allowing further efforts towards meditation, I felt as though my eyes began to spasm and I felt a pull from inside my mind. It was like vertigo without the dizziness. My curiousity told me it could have been what I was looking for, but my cautious side told me to question this. I opened my eyes and looked around, the room that had once been pitch black I was able to see clearly aside from two corners in my room. Diagonally opposite from each other it seemed as though these two shadows were blurry to look at/through but as the same time I was sure there was movement in them as though it were just a tattered cloak. I had once been able to detect spirits in my childhood, my gut was telling me I was dealing with them again only that this was no big threat. Leaving my attempt there as I am aware that there is possibility in demonic possession when it comes to meditation. I decided that since I was now well aware of what was there, I wanted to emanate my usual neutral-positive energy so that I wouldn't risk angering what was there. After being satisfied that it knew I was no bother to it and vice-versa, I slept.. with refreshing results.

    Now then, I'd like the experienced in meditation to let me know what their take on what they think might have happened with my 'attempt to meditation' and the presence of shadow in my room. I've posted once here upon introducing myself months ago, I understand my posts are generally long but it's unnerving when there are no responses.

    You have become aware of you and your surroundings, self-awareness and the ethereal body or your energy body which can get quite big if you let. Some call this an expansion of consciousness. Hope this helps.

    Sorry about not replying too all posts, but I really want this as a community and allowing others to answer the questions. But as you see, it seems that everybody wants to ignore people and focus on there own projects and submit unreadable keyword optimized garbage. I am going to stop deleting these in the hope it brings more people who can have interactions with people rather than just advertising their projects.

    Hey, thanks for the reply.
    Alright, so I'd agree that it feels like an expansion of awareness however from your experience do you think I've gotten closer to meditating correctly or is it simply something in itself unrelated to meditation?

    You should not worry if you are doing it correctly as this would defeat the purpose of relaxation and experience, the fact that everyone experiences meditation differently does not make it correct or not. Just Do It.

    Awareness is something that can be learned but sometimes just appears and yes meditation can help in this process, so I would have to say yes to both. It is related but not related to meditation. Awareness can be learned in sport or any activity that requires concentration or focus like meditation or even reading and this can also lead to become aware or what it is around you and feeling as one with everything or an object.

    Thanks Brett. It's not what I had thought I would hear, but it is helpful none-the-less.
    I have just stumbled upon a great Max Erhmann quote I'll be sharing on the discussion board, perhaps it will help others get in the right mood for meditation when feeling restless.
