Question Do you use a Formula or do you wing it?

Do you use ready made formula in meditation or do you just breath and follow your mind, do you use hypnosis tools that reduce your brain wave patterns, or do you follow ancient teachings such as Zen and Buddhism etc ?

I do a bit of both. At the moment, I am doing the morning routine with Iyanla Vanzant. I am also choosing to do a few other meditations from various sources at various times during the day. I might open a book and read a bit of it at some point as well. My latest book is A New Way of Thinking, A New Way of Being. I do a bit of reflection with it. I go on the Chopra site and do a bit of reading. I did tai chi three times today. In between, I wrote and weeded, plus checked some photos I took of water reflections yesterday. That's how I do it.

I actually learned meditation techniques from a Lamaze Class I took getting ready for my son to enter the world. The technique was to focus on something other than the pain, in essence meditating to separate the mind from the body. We were guided through a mental relaxing visual during the classes so that we could practice at home and then on the big day or when the contractions became very painful be able to "escape" to the happy tranquil place we practiced in Lamaze Classes.

I just wing it. I put on some good music and my headphones and zone out. Sometimes i stare at a lit candle and breathe. I like the music form of meditation better. I sometimes get out and walk while zoning out the traffic. I get lost easily so I don't use this one as often unless it's to walk the park.

I just wing it. I don't like following a recipe for most things unless I'm stuck with having to actually eat it. I like doing my own thing, sitting my own way, focusing when I want on what I want. I guess I am sort of a rebellous sort. I am also someone that tends to push the envelope when it comes to conforming to anything............unless I have to like the Law.
