    Default Hello

    Hi to everyone,
I've been meditating in one way or another for about 20 years, and I'm still trying to work out what its all about.
But it does seem very useful.
It seems the the more I do it, the less I know, which is actually a good thing.
I've studied in many of the traditions, buddhist, christian, sufism and hinduism, and have tried to learn a bit from each.
I look forward to chatting to like minded people.
    Cheers.

    Some questions :

    - Why have you been in meditation?
    - Why are you doing something which you dont know what its about?
    - Why have you been studying different traditions?

Ill tell you something, you meditate for another 5 years, then come back to this forum and tell me "curt, i still dont know what its about". Isnt 20 years a long enough time to realize that there is nothing to realize? do you need another 20 years??

I was reading a story osho was saying, and the story goes on that there was this guy who had been in meditation for nearly 50 years and he once went to a master and asked him why he had not yet become a buddha, the master laughed and told him "you have not become a buddha because a buddha is one who has dropped all kinds of becoming"

You have not understood because you want to understand, stop the effort you have done too much and more then is needed, go have fun, go dance or something or find some other hobby, forget about meditation. It will not take you anywhere. Im only here because i have nothing to do, dont think because im interested in meditation.... lol

    Hey Curt,

yes, I've tried a lot of different things and met a lot of sad neo-advaita types like yourself, "there's nothing to do, nowhere to go."
And having known those types, I know that often underneath their sanctimonious, self-righteous "I know better than you, you're wasting your time" is a lot of sad insecurity.

Neo-advaita is the modern "fast food" version of spirituality for those who want to imagine that they've got it - free of time or effort. A great "path" for those who find meditation too difficult.

And if you really did have "it", surely you wouldn't be spending so much time here.

I mean really, ask yourself, why are you trolling this forum? Are you lonely? Who are you trying to impress? The person in the mirror? Why not go find an advaita forum, where you can all discuss your non-existence and pat yourselves on the back?

If you want to read about where you have missed the point, go here
    Neo-Advaita Demystified

This forum is a place for people that like or are interested in meditation, if you don't like it fine - I have no problem with that.
But continually trolling every post with your imagined superiority and continual negativity is not helpful - to anyone. It's a very immature act.
If you have something positive to contribute, fine, then do so.

I am also surprised at your ignorance. Numerous scientific studies show the benefits of meditation, stress reduction, physical benefits etc.
Do you deny that these benefits exist? Or do they just not fit your argument?

What have I gained in 20 years of meditation? Anyone that knows me says I have changed a lot and I am a much nicer person. I have learned much about myself. I am happier. Just that in itself has made it worthwhile.

What am I trying to get? I honestly don't know. It is what it is. But I enjoy the silence. That's my choice.

In answer to your question, I meditate because I enjoy it. Is that a problem?
What I do with my life is none of your business.
I also dance, sing and do other things I enjoy. I have a full life.

How is your life? The fact that you spend so much time here being so negative says you have a lot of free time.....

A wanna be keyboard guru with no devotees. How sad.

By the way, you quoted one select Osho quote - but Osho spent all his life TEACHING MEDITATION.
I think maybe it's you that have missed the point.
I got a good laugh out of that.

You are stuck in a mental loop of denial re spiritual practice. Two of the best known REAL Advaita teachers, Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj spent much of their lives in meditation. But of course, you know better.

And although it may be true that this is a dream, its MY dream and I'll live however I like.

    It's a funny dream.
I even imagine confused people like yourself.
But don't react to what I said.
Because remember, there's no to self to react, is there?

    Meditate on that.

Editors note: please be little less aggressive and more discuss your point of view is yours and Curts is his.

Curt is necessary for a forum like this, because he sifts the wheat from the chaff. Those who are not already committed to meditation will likely be discouraged by Curt's half truths (and he is right a lot). I think Curt knows meditation is transformative, but he will test others to see if they know it. This is not a bad thing.

Anyone who is actually discouraged by Curt, enough to give up meditation, didn't have roots planted deep enough anyway. They simply didn't bear down and really commit to it.

There is adversity in all things. There are no free rides, even on the path to Nirvana. Curt is proof of this.

I didnt get "it", i have not gained "it" and i never will.

youre right im sad and insecure and im just trolling on this forum hoping to get some fans so i can build some kind of security on my beliefs. Youre right, this is ignorance i should have tryed playing around with women instead of talking about meditation in a forum.

I did react to what you said, because there is a self, this self is my ego, it is my center.

To realize there is nowhere to go and nothing to do, is not a fast food thing... the hardest thing to realize is the simplest why, you wanna know why? because the ego wants complexities not simplicity... hmm?

as always the wanna be guru on the internet curt... lol
