    Greetings to all,

    I am new on the 7 meditations forum. I have been teaching martial arts for over 30 years. There is a meditative quality to the movements in martial arts.
    I find that when I perform I can center my mind and achieve the benefits of meditation without sitting in one space and not moving for an hour. I would like to develop a moving meditation system that could achieve the wonderful results we all get from meditation within 5 to 15 minutes instead of an hour. What do you think? I would appreciate your thoughts and/or feedback.

    Welcome to 7Meditations Charles! I've always been highly interested in Martial Arts, when my current situation.. settles, somewhat, I intend to take up Aikido as a lifetime practice. This meditation in movement, this makes me think of Tai-Chi?

    Let us question the writer of the post.

    First, you have been teaching martial arts for 30 years? what is the reason - (do not say cause i like it), has it been some kind of ego trip to you sir? if it has then keep doing it, martial arts is a great way to strengthen the ego.

    Second, You speak of centering your mind - isnt that concentration? which is different from so-called meditation....

    Third, what do you expect to gain from your so-called meditation? some state of bliss or calm? those states dont exist, i can assure you, you cannot gain anything out of "meditation". "meditation" is not to gain anything but to lose "yourself"

    Fourth, Forget about meditation and just do the martial arts.
