I'm new to this forum, but not to meditation. I started meditating over 40 years ago with a centering technique that came from the Silva Mind Control course weekend I attended in the sixties. Since then I've made meditation an important part of my life, and also a research interest that I've continued ever since. In the seventies I took a Transcendental Meditation initiation and continued with that form of meditation for many years. Then I discovered the Synchronicity (Master Charles) system, which resulted in a major shift in consciousness for me. I completed several phases of the Synchronicity "Recognitions" program, with great benefit. In the nineties I finally took the plunge and attended a 10 day Vipassana retreat, another major shift. A year later I did my second 10 day. Vipassana is a powerful technique, and well worth the investment of time it takes to master the technique. Over the past couple of decades I've investigated a number of audio entrainment techniques within my meditation schedule (HoloSync, LifeFlow, EquiSync etc) and found some very helpful and others not so effective. I think meditation techniques are a matter of choice: find the method that works for you and stick with it.
I meditate every day in a room set aside for the purpose. Meditation is addictive, there's no doubt about it, but it's the most wonderful addiction you can ever have, and the most beneficial.
