    Default Tea Meditation

Make your next cup of Tea a meditative experience.

Tea drinking for the mind, body and soul.

The busy modern woman needs to integrate Meditation into her life in practical and adaptive ways. There is great benefit from sitting cross legged on a cushion for hours but lets face facts many of us don't!
This Meditation uses an everyday function and has developed it into a special intimate space just for you.
As you head over to your kettle or tea pot become mindful of what your about to experience and under take. Clear your thoughts and watch, feel and experience your hand as it gently pours the hot water into your cup.
Watch with full focus as the water swirls around the cup, drawing out the tea changing the colour of water. As you inhale consciously search the oxygen for aromas of the blend you have chosen and observe your initial reaction to the scent.
When your brew is ready find a comfortable seat, cushion or lounge and sit with a an extra long exhale, keeping your posture upright.
Watch your hand grasp the side of the teacup or mug and be grateful for the fingers that have served your so beautifully all of your life. As you draw the cup to your lips, notice how the china feels pressed on your bottom lip and as you take a sip, imagine the liquid as its swims into your mouth and travels over your tongue.
With your tongue explore the feel and taste of the liquid as it swirls around in your mouth.
As you begin to taste the tea, notice where your mind is, what thoughts come up from this flavour, does the heat evoke anything for you. Notice the liquid as it slips into your throat and warms your body on the inside.
Inhale deeply as you take another sip and delve deeper into the inner sensations of the liquid that is making its way into your internal system.
Take a moment to really appreciate your body and the functions it does for you automatically and observe all its functions as you exhale.
As the cup cools, wrap your hands around the body of the cup and feel the remaining warmth on the skin of your hands. Is the sensation even on all of your fingers or are some of them more sensitive than others?
As you near the bottom of your cup, notice if the consistency of the tea has changed and whether the intensity of flavour is still present or whether your senses are still as intense as when you began.
After some more deep breaths open your eyes and emerge from your simple Tea Meditation.

I've never tried that, but it is very relaxing as I drink my morning coffee. Do you know that tea ceremonies used to be big in ancient china? Well they were. It was a ritualistic experience. It took preparation, etc.
