There are groups that meditate everywhere around the world but what would we do if we are in a town where there are no groups to meditate with?
Well I have a found a solution for all, Second life is an online game where you as a character have a second life it's like real life but only cheaper or even free if you do not want anywhere to live and just socialize and meet new people.
In second life there are many places to meditate in a world wide group meditation also meeting new people that are interested in the same way you are, there is a Buddhist Temple and a Zen Retreat.
A great way meet people from around the world and meditate in a group with daily meditation and teachings, though distant it still gives you the energy and motivation you need to meditate, especially when time restraints are an issue!
You can also find me and 7meditations at this location.
You can get the second life here free!

No it is just an option for people in remote places or have no groups in their area. It is always up to the individual if he/she wishes to have a teacher or be self taught.
With friends or in a group you have a community experience, a bit more warmth and love involved, also depending on who you are with depends on the experience that you get out of meditating in a group / with friends / family. You can also learn a lot from other people's experiences, just like this site but face to face, all options have their benefits and it is again up to the individual to decide on what benefits them the most.
Great question.

Thanks Brett, I wasn't sure because I am a solo Meditator and I rarely like to do group things but, I thought it would be like a therapy group setting or something like it since I've never been to something like this. The closest I got to a meditation class is a beginning yoga class.
